Equipment needs - 2008/08/06 11:37
have checked our inventory of clean-up gear and we have:

11 diver down flags with floats. we could use another 15 or 20. They are generally $24.99, but Dive Odyssea might be able to order in bulk and offer us a discount. I will have to asked divers to provide their own or not dive this trip if the turn-out continues to grow. NEED: $375.00'ish

We have 15 collection bags and an additional orange bags donated by the packers.

We have gloves for 25 divers.

We have dull scissors for 13 divers and could use another dozen.

We have a dozen tank bangers and you use 15 more. Most divers will have these as they seem to be a collectors item.

We will need some stout line to drop down from each boat to allow divers to stay downa nd collect instead of surfacing often. We would need hooks and "glow sticks" to identify these drop off stations.

So it total, with a few more bags, diver down floats flags (one for each diver), some scissors, rope and light sticks, our 25 divers will be supplied. These supplies have lasted us the last 5 years, and have been faithfully cleaned and stored by Ben.

In the future... a collection vessel/pontoon boat would be wonderful. I have a 175 hp motor that could be applied to such a vessel. Also, I am looking for a jet ski or two to use to collect errrant divers caught in currents or too tired to swim back. We could cover the boat and seadoos with logos and ads and provide comments on our different websites as well.

If there are any loose funds out there or a sponsor or two who might be interested in assisting in any of the above areas, I would be thrilled to meet with them or collect the goodies fro use.

I will be doing video work this weekend so record this historic dive into my home inlet and to get more tape for our presentations.

Thanks for everyone's efforts. It was great to be back in the inlet and cleaning. The fish and crabs get so excited and literally point out the debris for us.
